Laurie Huff is a contemporary abstract painter creating work that is informed by her love for nature and travel. Her work is multi-layered and textural using a variety of media such as acrylic, oil & cold wax medium, collage, and drawing media. Her style is expressive, with bold and subtle mark making.
Her recent series of nature inspired abstracts capture the color and feel of a place. Inspiration often comes from personal experience during walks along the lakeshore near her Rockwall, Texas home or from the serene beauty of landscape experienced during travel. An interesting mountain contour, a beautiful sunset or a moody sky right before a storm have become favorite painting subjects.
Laurie holds a BA in Fine Arts and a Masters in Education, and is a former Fine Arts teacher and administrator. She also served as President of the Rockwall Art League in recent years. When not painting, Laurie loves spending time with her grandchildren and setting out on new Airstream camping adventures with her husband, Randy. She also enjoys travelling to art fairs and festivals throughout the Southwest. Laurie’s work can be found at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, and at T Clifton Art in Memphis. Her latest work and upcoming art event schedule can be found at LaurieHuffStudio.com and on Instagram.
“My greatest purpose as an artist is to share a sense of nature and freedom through my art in a personal, joyful, and meaningful way.” - Laurie Huff
