Tammy Pennington
My work is grounded in lived experience. Growing up in Texas, some of my happiest moments were spent riding horses, learning the quiet language of trust and partnership between human and animal. That early bond continues to shape how I see and paint the world.
During a difficult time, I began drawing to find calm and clarity. Simple sketches evolved into Colors of a Cowgirl, a coloring book project that led me toward painting as a deeper form of expression. Since then, my work has focused on preserving meaningful moments - often portraits of riders with cherished horses.
When working from old, faded photographs, I rely on my personal history to reconstruct what time has softened. While Western themes remain central to my practice, I am also inspired by movement and the rhythms of nature. Across all subjects, my paintings honor connection, continuity, and the quiet dignity found in shared experience.
