About the event
In this three-hour course, participants will be introduced to the art of basketry—the hand-weaving of a vessel that has been a staple of human culture for millennia.
Participants will learn about the history of basket weaving, explore samples of assorted shapes, sizes, and finishes, and practice the techniques of starting, building, shaping, styling, and finishing a handwoven bowl basket.
Demonstrations of each step—including starting your basket, adding yarn, shaping, styling, and finishing—will be shared in spaced-out increments and repeated while providing individual assistance where and when needed.
Take-home Project:
A handwoven basket that will be complete or nearly complete by the end of the three-hour workshop.
