A 4th generation Texan, Tammy Pennington grew up riding and showing American Paint Horses across the southwest. She spent decades in the saddle, first in the arena, then sharing her skills with local youth through riding lessons and horse training. The daughter of an artist, she found herself drawn more to crafts than traditional painting, and her projects included jewelry making and western clothing design.
A personal setback kickstarted her creative journey to use art to heal both her heart and mind. Working in pen and ink, she published her first coloring book for women, Colors of a Cowgirl in 2016, followed shortly by a second work titled Rodeo Queen. Both these books are included each year in the collection of gifts for contestants in the Miss Rodeo America and Miss Rodeo USA pageants.
Now focusing her efforts to capture images on canvas, she paints voraciously each week, specializing in custom paintings that portray poignant moments between horse and rider. Pennington’s work has been included in many art shows throughout Texas.
